Join Our Perinatal Psychology Practice:

Where Authenticity Meets Impact

We’re Not For Everyone (And That’s Intentional)

Hello there! I’m Dr. Blythe, a fully licensed perinatal psychologist with purple hair, plenty of tattoos, and a service dog by my side. I founded this practice on inclusivity, strong ethics, and a commitment to reducing mortality and morbidity rates for birthing persons in Texas. If you’re nodding your head thinking “finally, a practice that embraces authenticity,” keep reading.

What We’re Actually Looking For

  • Fully Licensed & Seasoned Professional: You must have an unrestricted Texas License to practice mental health (LP, LPC, LCSW, LMFT). You know your craft well enough to work autonomously, but you’re wise enough to value collaboration.
  • Insurance Navigator: Let’s be honest—taking insurance is complex, complicated, and exhausting. BUT it’s how we provide critical care to our community. You understand this tradeoff and value impact over income.
  • Virtual Practice Ready: About 65% of our sessions are online, and most of our team works virtually. You’ll need to be comfortable with regular communication via email/text/practice management system rather than hallway check-ins. To combat isolation, we host a weekly “Rock Talk” on Wednesday mornings—a cherished time for our team to connect, collaborate, and ensure no one is working in a vacuum.
  • Reproductive Health Focus: We work across the full reproductive spectrum—fertility, infertility, pregnancy loss, terminations for medical reasons (TFMR), termination for any reason, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), perimenopause, and menopause. Our clients are primarily cisgender women, nonbinary individuals, and transmen. You should be passionate about providing affirming care throughout all reproductive journeys.
  • Burnout Prevention Champion: If you’ve ever felt the weight of compassion fatigue or wondered if this field requires sacrificing your wellbeing, we’ve created this space specifically with you in mind.
  • Technical Setup for Success: Since you’ll be working virtually, you’ll need: reliable internet (that others in your household don’t use during sessions), a working computer with webcam and sufficient storage for necessary software, a good headset (non-negotiable), a private workspace, a professional virtual background, and proper lighting so clients can see you clearly.

Why This Practice Matters

Harris County’s maternal outcomes are dismal. We’re committed to changing that by making specialized mental health care accessible through insurance and Medicaid. This practice isn’t about getting rich—it’s about making a meaningful difference for people who wouldn’t otherwise have access to our care.

This is a contract position which doesn’t work for everyone. Income is a percentage of what we collect per visit from the carrier. That limits our income some, but we’re not interested in pricing ourselves out of working with the people we want to help and spend time with regularly. If this doesn’t meet your financial goals—no worries, this just isn’t the position for you.

What You’ll Find Here

  • Genuine Self-Expression: In a field that often demands conformity, we celebrate authenticity. (Purple hair optional, authentic self required.)
  • Schedule Autonomy: You set your schedule upon hiring, and we tweak as needed. Work as much as feels sustainable to you. This position can be part-time, full-time, or even a side hustle alongside other professional commitments. Many of our clinicians start part-time and increase their hours as their caseload builds—we’re flexible and supportive of your unique work-life integration needs.
  • Self-Care Advocacy: I’m serious about preventing burnout and supporting longevity in this profession.
  • Inclusive, Edgy Environment: Our practice reflects our values through our approach, not just our physical space. While Dr. Blythe sees some clients in-person, all other clinicians work virtually with patients.
  • Community Impact: We take most insurance plans and almost every Texas Medicaid plan because we’re committed to serving those who need us most. We’ve found that clients are more likely to prioritize and maintain their mental health care when they can budget for it using their insurance coverage.
  • Mentorship & Growth: Access to me! Look, I don’t know it all, but I know a lot about reproductive mental health and I’m here for the queerdos. I can help you be more well-rounded and show up for people outside of what you were taught in your clinical training. I’m fluent in woo, LGBTQIA+, poly, kink, and earth-based religions.
  • Funky Company Culture: I’m the mental health director of Preggers Can Be Choosers. We are interesting people who show up for the underrepresented. Preggers shares an office with Tabula Rasa Psychology. We have access to our very own queer midwife!
  • Streamlined Clinical Focus: Our practice manager Heather handles everything from client inquiries to bookings, insurance billing, and payments. You don’t have to do much until the patient shows up on your schedule. This allows you to focus on becoming the clinician you’ve dreamed of being, with time to write notes, participate in needed training, and actually live a life worth having (fun!).

Who Shouldn’t Apply

  • If you believe therapy should only happen in conservative office settings
  • If you’re motivated primarily by maximizing income
  • If insurance paperwork will break your spirit
  • If you’re uncomfortable serving LGBTQ+ communities
  • If you’re not trauma-informed in your approach to care
  • If you’re uncomfortable with any aspect of full spectrum reproductive care, including abortion services
  • If you’re not able to keep up with the administrative tasks associated with working in a group private practice
  • If you believe burnout is inevitable in mental health work

The Next Step

If you’re feeling a sense of “this is what I’ve been looking for”—a place where your authentic self can make a real difference in reproductive mental health—we should talk. This isn’t about filling a position; it’s about finding the right professional who will thrive here while helping others do the same.

This is a contract position. Pay will be based on experience and is calculated as a split from actual payments received from carriers/insurance. The split ranges from 45-55%. If you need full-time work, great—let’s grow into that together. If you have a few part-time gigs already, let’s see if we can add this to your plate in a way that enhances rather than overwhelms your professional life.
