What is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting (BSP) is a therapy method created in 2003 by Dr. David Grand. Over 16,000 therapists worldwide now use it.
How does it work?
Brainspotting uses a simple idea: “Where you look affects how you feel.”
Your therapist helps you find specific eye positions (called “Brainspots”) that connect to difficult feelings, memories, or body sensations. When you hold your eyes in these positions, your brain and body can process and release what’s been stuck.
What happens in a session?
- Your therapist creates a safe, trusting space
- You focus on an issue while looking at specific eye positions
- You may hear bilateral sound (audio that alternates between ears) to support the process
- Your brain does the healing work naturally
What can it help with?
- Trauma and emotional pain
- Physical pain and tension
- Stress and anxiety
- Performance and creativity enhancement
Dr. B hasn’t yet found something brainspotting can’t help with.
The key point:
Brainspotting taps into your body’s natural ability to heal itself. Your therapist guides the process, but your brain and body do the healing.
