Cathy Fagan, Predoctoral Intern (she/her)

Hello, I’m Cathy Fagan, predoctoral intern. I’m the newest member of Tabula Rasa Psychology. Honestly, I’ve been working in mental health for over a decade but I’m currently working on finishing my doctoral degree. I expect to graduate in 2023 with my doctorate in clinical psychology and am eager to get started on my postdoctoral fellowship shortly after graduation.

I’m trained in cognitive behavioral therapy. I wanted to work with Dr. Blythe because she presents as a human being. When my previous internship fell apart, Dr. Blythe stepped up and decided to help me finish my hours.

My current top three musicians are Jill Scott, Jennifer Lopez, and Adele. My top 3 movies are Silence of the Lambs, The Color Purple, and Hannibal. My enneagram is between the Helper (2) and the Peacemaker (9). That gels well with this practice, for sure.

My clients describe me as: Kindhearted, resourceful, compassionate, and direct all while being caring and understanding!

Something to know about my approach: I use cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) but I utilize an eclectic approach because there is no such thing as one size fits all. I’m excited to learn new treatment styles while working with Dr. B! She already has me signed up for a Postpartum Support International PMAD training with Dr. Doghar and she is eyeing Brainspotting Phase 1 when I’m ready.

I became a therapist because: People have always randomly shared their stories with me and would  ask for my opinion or would often say, “You’re a good listener, and thanks for the feedback.”  So, I decided to fulfill my purpose and passion because I love helping people.

I specialize in working with clients: who are experiencing issues with anxiety, depression, job stress, relationship difficulties, life adjustment, and dealing with traumatic challenges in life. I look forward to specializing in perinatal care like the rest of the practice.

About my practice and myself: I am refining my practice. As I earn my doctorate degree, I’m working on elevating my practice. I am leveling up my skills to match my education. It feels great to be achieving this huge accomplishment. It has been hard but I strive daily to reach this goal!

Together we will work on helping you meet your individual needs by expanding your skills to elevate and maintain your mental well-being.
